Opportunity: Acquire an unmined proven talc deposit located on approximately 500 acres in southern Vermont .
Background: This land had been previously sold to Amoco-Cyprus Industrial Minerals, however none of the talc deposit was removed. Extensive test reports of core borings by Amoco-Cyprus are available and reliable sources report a minimum of 8 million tons of talc is available. Reliable sources also estimate in excess of 20 million tons could be available, as borings were terminated at the 8 million ton proof level.
Uses for Talc: The talc is of the micacaecous type found only in Southern Vermont. Talc is used extensively by roofing manufacturers such a s Bird & Son, Philip Carey, Flintkote and Rubberoid. The talc has special lubricating qualities suitable for coating roofing shingles. No substitute has reportedly been found for talc in most similar processes. Talc is also used as a filler in paints, rubber, plastics and many other industrial products. Highly refined talc is used in cosmetics and talcum powder.
